Opposable Thumbs

Opposable Thumbs is an audio podcast where Los Angeles artist Rob Ray and I tackle a new creative challenge every two weeks. We invite a different guest to join us for each episode, and the three of us discuss the stuff we made live over Skype. At the end of each show, the guest sets the challenge for the upcoming episode.

Rob and I launched Opposable Thumbs in 2017, and have been recording new episodes ever since. We started the project as a way to sustain rigor in our own creative practices, which were suffering from the various demands of our day jobs and personal lives. We also decided to use the podcast as a platform to elevate minority voices, as they are often left out of the “Maker” scene, which is predominately representative of cisgender white men.
