Opposable Thumbs 64: Vulnerability

This season my kitchen has been infested by ants! I found a great little ant poison that’s not too toxic, but felt weird about putting it on the countertop in my cooking area. The ants were coming out of a light switch plate, which I couldn’t fully seal without freezing the switch in place.

I used this podcast challenge as an excuse to address the problem. First, I found an existing switch plate design over on thingiverse. Next, I modified the file to add a little trough where my poison could sit. In this way, the ants are encouraged to exit the plate through a little door, which keeps them, and the poison, up off the counter. You can download my design here.

Then I made a movie.
